Synopsis
In quiet suburban Sydney, laid-off arborist Mick Sullivan answers a frantic after-hours call when his colleague's cat escapes and claws its way up a massive, ancient gum tree. What begins as a cheap moonlighting gig quickly escalates when Mick discovers the tree's roots have disturbed an old property dispute and hidden a missing heirloom that the entire block has been quietly fighting over for decades. As night falls, Mick's climb draws neighbors, news crews, and the rival landowner, forcing him to mediate between his own financial desperation, the cat's survival, and the community's buried grudges. The rescue becomes a public spectacle that exposes long-simmering tensions and ultimately forges unlikely alliances among the residents.
The story
Mick, recently laid off and barely scraping by, gets the panicked call from his colleague just before sunset; the cat is stuck thirty meters up an enormous gum tree on contested land.
During the ascent Mick finds an old locket and letters that ignite a property feud, trapping him between the cat above, angry neighbors below, and his own climbing injuries as media helicopters arrive.
